Day Eleven – My Brother’s Keeper

It isn’t only the orphan who is vulnerable. Handicapped children are vulnerable as well. These are the children whose parents are encouraged by some doctors to put in a home, or worse. Here’s a story of God at work if I EVER saw one. This was brought to my attention by the friend I mentioned a couple of days ago.

God worked in the heart of this little boy Connor Long to be sure that his brother Cayden was engaged in life in a way that doctors and likely many others said he never could be. He has taken it upon himself to be his brother’s keeper.

Here’s my suggestion to you. Before your next family movie night (or whatever special thing you do all together), play this video for your children. Talk about it a little bit. Encourage them to think about people in their own who are a little disenfranchised. Maybe even encourage them to write to Connor and Cayden. YOU write one too – model this. Help them to see that some things are hard but that life is a team sport; no one does it well alone and we all need a leg up once in awhile.

See what God does in the hearts of your kids, and in you as well.
